The Department of Energy's Academic Strategic Alliances Program (ASAP),
part of the DoE's Accelerated Strategic Computing Initiative (ASCI) Level
II, is supporting two research groups at Rice engaged in a combined effort
focusing on:
compilers and tools for memory management in large scale parallel
computer systems
scalable support for OpenMP
The compiler and tools research will focus on techniques for enhancing
uniprocessor memory hierarchy utilization, interprocedural optimization
for the integration of high performance libraries, and tools for parallel
programming. The OpenMP project will focus on design and development of
compiler and runtime support for efficient shared-memory parallel programming
on networks of workstations using the TreadMarks software distributed
shared memory system.
